Vogt, John & Kethley, Wm. Mecklenburg County, Virginia Marriages 1765-1853. 302 pgs. Brunswick County was established in 1720 as part of the economic expansion of tobacco cultivation into Southside Virginia. However, the new county did not commence to function as a seperate political entity until 1733. The early marriage records of this county do not begin until 1750. Along with Dinwiddie and Amelia counties, Brunswick County forms an important "stem" county for the examination of the Southside in the eighteenth century. All three counties derived from parent Prince George County (1703).

Weisiger, Benjamin B. III Charles City County, Virginia Court Orders 1687-1695 (with a fragment of a Court Order Book for the year 1680. 249 pgs. The present volume is chiefly an abstract of the Court Order Book for the period noted. Since Charles City County was the parent county for Prince George (created in 1704), it is also a valuable source of information about Prince George's people as well who were living in the area just prior to the county's formation.
